The why behind Disability Dating

Every dating site claims a mission. Ours fits in a sentence: disabled people deserve somewhere to meet where their lives are never treated as a complication.

Where this site came from

Disability Dating began with a familiar frustration: mainstream apps treat disability as a plot twist. You match, you chat, you get on famously — and then comes the disclosure moment, the recalibration, sometimes the vanishing act. Millions of people were doing the emotional paperwork of explaining their own lives to strangers, date after date, and calling it romance.

So we built the alternative: a community where understanding is the entry requirement. Everyone here knows disabled or chronically ill life from the inside, which means the exhausting first chapter is already written and the interesting ones can start immediately. Wheelchair users, Deaf and blind members, autistic adults, people managing chronic illness, epilepsy or limb difference — one warm, mixed community rather than a dozen lonely corners.

What we stand on

Four beliefs that run the place

  • Understanding shouldn’t need earning — here it’s the baseline
  • Free must mean free: browse, match and start at no cost
  • Kindness is a rule with teeth, not a poster
  • The website itself must be accessible — we’re judged on it daily

Where we are, and where you come in

Today the community spans the United Kingdom — our home and heartland — plus Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Every join makes the map denser and someone’s search shorter; every story sent in convinces the next nervous browser to take the leap.

That’s the whole operation: honest tools, warm people, and a steadily growing wall of proof that dating works better when nobody has to explain. If that sounds like your kind of place, the door’s free and it’s open.
